Columbia, SC native, Maci Catalano Scheuer always had an interest in art but
focused her undergraduate years on philosophy. In 1977 she earned her law
degree from the University of South Carolina. After moving with her husband and
four children to Camden, SC she practiced law and worked in public speaking,
with art still hovering in the background. In the fall of 1998, Maci renewed
her interest in art by attending Columbia College. Now, she paints and draws in
a converted guest cottage at her home.
Her
surroundings, long time interest in porcelains, sense of humor and fanciful
dreams influence her works. “My husband and I have inherited an incredible
legacy of porcelain from his mother, Mary Scheuer.” Living with these has
influenced my sense of beauty, proportion and color, and has found its way into
my art.” – Maci Scheuer.
