Born in Montreal in 1958, Guy
Mourand developed his own passion and talent for fine art in 1999. Like many
artists, he has had an alternate career, in this case as a ventilation
technician. The success of his paintings have allowed Mourand to devote himself
entirely to painting.
Clearly inspired by Modigliani, his paintings were initially not
created using a paint brush but rather his own hands and a cloth. Since then his
style and technique have evolved. Mourand uses a paint brush to create more
passionate and definitive paintings. The figure's in Mourand's paintings are not
portraits. Each individual has no age, no nationality and at times, no gender.
They are timeless in their simplicity, emoting purity and elegance.
